Thirty Years of Strategy: A New Look for the Same Firaxis Heart

Welcome to the new Firaxis.com! We are so glad you’re here. Founded in 1996 by Sid Meier, Jeff Briggs and Brian Reynolds, this studio has stood the test of time, producing countless award-winning games and experiences for fans around the world. It is those very fans who helped us get here today, and we are honored to have you as part of our journey!

This week is a huge milestone for us, as we get ready to officially celebrate the 30th anniversary of Firaxis Games this Friday, May 1.

A Brand That Honors Our Roots

If you’ve been following us for a while, you know our look hasn't changed much since 1997. While we love our history, we wanted a visual identity that felt more reflective of the studio we’ve become and the digital world we live in today.

You’ll notice our new branding has been designed to stand out on the screens where you play and engage with us most, but it isn't a radical departure from where we were. We didn't want to lose the soul of Firaxis, we just wanted to polish it. It’s a bridge between our legacy and our future - modern, clear, and built for the next 30 years of strategy.

35 Years of Civilization (and Counting!)

The timing couldn't be better, as we also look toward the 35th anniversary of Civilization this fall. Currently, we are pouring our passion into Civilization VII, an iteration that continues to evolve and grow.

And we wouldn't be here without you! The passionate feedback, the "one more turn" stories, and the unwavering support from our global community are the reasons we get to keep doing what we love. You are at the heart of every hexagonal tile we place and civilization we bring to life.

A Month of Celebration

To say "thank you," we have a packed calendar of events and updates coming your way this month:

April 30: We’re kicking off a Legacy Sale on Steam for PC, featuring huge savings on some of the best Firaxis Titles from over the years.
May 1 (This Friday!): Join us on our Firaxis Games Social Channel for our official anniversary celebration, featuring a fun, new giveaway.
May 19: Our own Heather Hazen, President of Firaxis Games, will be appearing at the GamesBeat Summit to talk shop about the industry and our vision.
Exclusive Merch: We’ve produced a very limited run of 30th-anniversary gear to share with some of our closest creators who have championed our games over the years.
XCOM Tabletop Miniatures Game. We’re very excited to partner with Modiphius Entertainment on a new XCOM tabletop game inspired by Enemy Unknown.
GeForce Now: We’re working closely with NVIDIA to bring many of your favorite legacy titles to the cloud. Tune in to the NVIDIA GeForce Now Blog this Thursday for more information!
