Despite the rain and heat, the Firaxis team headed to Joseph E. Lee Park for the 2018 Corporate Kickball Tournament. From muddy fields to the Kooper’s Chowhound Burger Wagon, it was a day of sun-drenched team building in support of Playworks Maryland’s mission to bring healthy play to Baltimore schools.

After several rainy weeks and quite a few rescheduled, the 2018 Corporate Kickball Tournament was held on June 1st, 2018 to support Playworks Maryland. Firaxis team members met at Joseph E. Lee Park under the sweltering sun for a day of kickball and team building on the muddy fields, playing against employees of other local businesses.

Though we didn’t place in the tournament, it was a great – albeit sweaty – day outdoors supporting a good cause. Playworks Maryland provided great tunes and plenty of drinks, and everybody was very excited when the Kooper’s Chowhound Burger Wagon pulled up for lunch.
Proceeds from the tournament supported Playworks Maryland’s After School League program, which provides over 400 Baltimore city fourth- and fifth-graders access to after-school sports, like girls’ basketball, co-ed tennis, and co-ed volleyball.
Playworks is the leading national nonprofit leveraging the power of play to transform children’s social and emotional health. Playworks currently serves more than 1,300 schools in 23 U.S. cities, and reaches more than 700,000 students directly and through professional training services. They are changing school culture by leveraging the power of safe, fun, and healthy play at school every day.
