In honor of the 25th anniversary of 9/11, 15 employees from the Sparks office volunteered at First Fruit Farms (FFF) in Freeland, Maryland.

FFF is a 281-acre nonprofit farm that donates 100% of their crops to food banks across Maryland and Central Pennsylvania. After a 10-minute tractor ride to the field, the team got straight to work picking corn.

In just two hours, Firaxis (and three helpful new friends) harvested 17,300 ears of corn! Which set a new record for most corn picked by a group of volunteers.

The team battled and pushed through rain, spiders, and humidity to achieve the feat! A special shout out to Jim Mooney, who went above and beyond to keep us on pace and ensure no cobs were left behind.

But the hard work didn’t stop there!

Six additional folks from our Cary crew also rolled up their sleeves on Friday, September 11, from 9 to 11 AM at NC State’s Wellness and Recreation Center for a massive meal-packing event!

It was a beautiful day in NC, and our team gathered in the gym to pre-pack around 500 bags of Jambalaya to help feed local families through the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina.

This event was part of an incredible national effort where over 50,000 volunteers across 50 cities joined forces to pack 20 million meals in observance of 9/11’s 25th anniversary, and our Cary group was thrilled to contribute to the goal of 250,000 total meals packed in North Carolina!

A huge thank you to everyone in Sparks and Cary who stepped up to make a difference. Whether picking corn in the rain or packing meals in the gym, our teams showed up in full force to honor 9/11 by giving back to our communities.
